Our Authentic designation is reserved for cards that are 100% authentic cards but have conditions that would make a grade designation unfavorable. Whatever the issue is, will be designated on the label of the card, (SIZE, INKED, SHAVEN, ETC). Some examples would be: The cards is not trimmed but does not size correctly to have it receive a grade. Most often this occurs with vintage cards. Often the printers of the old vintage cards did not think it so important for cards to all be the same size. After all they were basically free with you tobacco or gum. Another reason would be the collector wants to know their card is real and not “counterfeit” but is not concerned with the grade. This often happens with very old cards and cards that in high grades sell for very high prices.
